Into The Universe With Stephen Hawking
I can still remember looking up into the stars when I was young and wondering what was out there. When I was a kid we had a show much like this one minus the special effects called Cosmos. Cosmos was hosted by my idle Carl Sagan. He could speak about things so clearly that anyone could understand them. I was never much into Star Trek but he made it seem possible. Into The Universe feels like it picks up right where Cosmos left off. The special effects and visuals used in Into The Universe make it a very fun watch. There are three episodes in the series which cover life on other planets, time travel, the creation of the universe, and much more. I especially liked Stephens view on paradoxes. This is a great film and It will make you feel smarter afterwards.

Netflix Average: 4.3
IMDB: 8.6
My Rating: 9
I personally feel as though this film could of covered more topics as Cosmos did back in the day, but these three episodes seem to be more about the most important discoveries and ideas found thus far.

Might have to look into this
All topics I like and have we've into my books, sounds like a watch indeed.
Amazing! Look into Pro. Brian Cox. Now following.
I watched Hawkings episode on time travel, so the rest might be interesting too.
@James I have seen him at a TED Conference before and he is one of the best at explaining things so people can understand them. A very exciting fellow to listen too.
Thanks for the visit and for the correction to my post.
have a fun Friday.
I'm going to download this.
Great post, everything to do with the universe just fascinates me & I totally agree with James, Pro Brian Cox is my hero, will defo check out this film + following :)
I could do with feeling smarter.......
That sounds awesome! I've always been fascinated by space. :) Happy weekend!!
never even thought to watch something like this on Netflix. I think I will get into this once I am home, thanks for the afternoon filler!
I bet the creation of the universe would be an awesome episode. I will have to check this series out. Thanks for the heads up!
I am a space fan too, having a little telescope I spend some time during the night watching the sky above. Sometimes I make little pictures. They are not good but I have fun. Maybe I will post a little picture on my blog next time. Oh and yes, I'm a star wars fan too.

Gostei!
I for one didn't grew up with Carl Sagan, but I hear good things. Will probably check him out. Nice post.
deff good show, watch it all the time on discovery channel
Carl sagan is a GOD! Awesome show and film
With more and more of the cosmos being discovered as time passes, I can't help but feel that our world is nothing but a piece of sand on the shoe of the universe.
i've never seen, nor heard, of cosmos. i loathe star trek. i could use some brain cells, that doesn't mean i'll do anything to increase them though. oooo look at the pretty colors of the photo, like a kaleidoscope. trippy.
This sounds like a wonderful series.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Have a fantastic weekend!
lol, my friends have been talking about this movie for weeks now and they haven't even seen it. They just like the title...
I want to watch this!
beautifull
Looks like I'll have to give it a shot :)
Thanks for becoming my centurion! On a friend's computer just doing a quick check, can;t stay long enough to really read anything but will have a good look when I am in range again!
I was a massive sci-fi
fan as a teenager.
I'm still very interested in the cosmos,
so I will definitely check this out.
Have a great weekend.
Cheers
Mark
Interesting love listening to his knowledge!
Seems interesting :)
I've watched this an I can say that i really enjoyed it. However, Carl Sagan has a uniquely simple way of explaining complex theories to us laymen. For example, his explanation of the fourth dimension completely blew me away. It was extraordinarily simple!
This sounds like some subject matter I could get into--especially time travel and paradoxes. Does Stephen Hawking narrate? What's he do? Just supply the ideas?

Have you heard about the A to Z Video Challenge?

So much universe, so little time...
I might have to check this one out.
pretty cool...universe in a nutshell is a fascinating book too...
I love the works done by Stephen Hawking, especially The Universe in a Nutshell.
@Annoymouse The flat people expplanation is amazing. I think he does a different one in Cosmos as well.
Have seen this on Netflix, I like it. How the Universe Works is good too, all the space stuff and how little we know about it never fails to fascinate me.
When I began teaching it was Continuous Creation. The it was Big Bang theory. Now it's all changing again. Continually fascinating and fascinatingly beyond us - the cosmos.
I prefer a bit of Brian Cox, but will definitely have a look at this.

sounds interesting, haven't seen this yet so I may look it up in my spare time. thanks!

I love Netflix..Might have to check it out.
Stephen hawking is awesome, i should buy a book about these subjects since my knowledge is still basic :(
Hey Bragondorn, first time visitor. Great to meet you. Looks like we have much in common. Loved the Carl Sagan series when I was a kid. Really got my interest in astronomy and physics, even though I was not the best of students. I've seen into the universe. I love all of these shows.
Sagan was pretty amazing, wasn't he? I love the movie they made from his book "Contact".
Ugh, I really should make time to watch this. I love videos like these.
I watched the Time Travel episode on Netflix the other day...awesome stuff!
I'm definitely going to watch this. And thank you for recommending my blog :)
Yep, definitely going to watch it. I like gaining random knowledge.
I remember Carl Sagan. Hr talked about billions and billions. cm
This sounds great! I've always wondered and dreamed what is out there, up above our heads... :) Thank you for your kindness!
Good luck!

Ah, I remember this on netflix as well. Great documentary series.
Looks insightful
Sounds awesome anyway..
I gotta see this
Billions and Billions--with such an emphasis on the B--I can hear his voice through this post and I LOVE IT!!!!
Hawking is a ROCK STAR!!!!!!
J
this was such a great informative movie for me.
That looks (to quote Spock) "fascinating."
I'll check it out.
Billions and billions!
I've never been huge on exploring the Universe. But that's only because there is still so much odd things here on Earth. How does that saying go? Fact is stranger than Fiction.
I miss Cosmos too. And Star Trek as well. Reading physics is tough, watching it is fun.
I love Stephen Hawking, even if I do differ on him on the point of what happens after we die.
Still, I feel as if I was very fortunate to use his astrophysics text book when I did my A-Levels. :-)
I like informative movies, might give it a shot.
Sagan's book was wonderful. I still have my original copy and once in a while I open it and scan a page. One of these days I'll reread it.
I loved Carl Sagan and Cosmos. I'll have to check this out for sure.
Beatiful text, your blog is nice!

See ya!
I watched this when it was out on the Discovery Channel. He's still one of the greatest contributors to modern age science, especially with his most recent remark on women.
cool stuff now following
Amazing programme! Have you watched wonders of the universe by prof. brian cox? Now following!
I haven't seen that show yet, so I'm not sure how to respond.
I haven't seen this, although I've always been fascinated by astronomy.
I remember the time travel one on Discovery channel. I Love this kind of stuff.
