Im Back

First off I just wanted to say sorry for not posting all week. I have been all drugged up to heal my knee and fingers and didn't want to say anything I would regret :) Also I will no longer be posting on Tuesdays or Thursdays due to my boss firing the other accountant but at least I can have an intern now.. Anyways It is Film Friday :)

Someday our world as we know it today will end. I am not saying that the entire thing will just explode but It will change forever. It could be the end in a few months or a few million years. The possibilities are almost endless but here are a couple of films that give us possibilities.

In this movies not so much zombies but monsters take over. I have never really believed that zombies were a credible choice for the worlds end but this movie had a convincing plot line. They believe that they have the cure for cancer but the cure goes airborne and infects almost everyone turning them into the monsters. There are some immune however and that is where Will Smith comes into play with his great acting abilities.

This film is a more unlikely story but I think we are dumb enough to let it happen. In this movies Robots are mass produced to work for humans. They do everything from go grocery shopping to taking out the trash. What we didn't expect however was that they would turn on us and attempt to kill all humans. Also with Will Smith. What were the odds of that?

In this movie a Meteor is found to be hurdling straight towards Earth and has no chance in missing. I think that this is a very good possibility because there are so many comets orbiting the sun that sooner or later one will come into alignment with our little blue planet. Luckily the world however is saved by Bruce Willis and his crew of misfits.

There are countless of other ways the world could end like a Nuclear War, Super Volcano, or maybe something simple like we run out of clean drinking water. How do you think it will happen?

thanks for the follow, following you back :)

I believe there are many possible ways the world could end, but its hard to say how probable they are.

Yellowstone will blow us all to smithereens. ;-p I can't say whether it's good or bad to be so close to it. I figure between nature and our own creations, we've got countless possibilities.

Personally, im hoping for some kind of Deus Ex future, but if it has to be catastrophic maybe a more I Am Legend ending would be interesting.

I Am Legend was a brilliant movie..iRobot, not so good. Armageddon, with the meteor heading to earth, is the most likely out of the three.

I guess it's also possible that within the next century, everyone on Earth will be gay. This would mean an end to reproduction, as we know it.

I'm happy with anything, but Zombies, really. Zombies scare me.

Those movies mae me cringe, first one was awful, second meh and third had it's moments. But yeah it will end as we know it at some point, has time and time again in the last 5 billion years or so it's been here.

My bet is we'll do it to ourselves. But my second choice would be aliens, they'll get us yet.

DanRobitzski said... Reply To This Comment

Welcome back man. to respond to Pat, I don't think we'll ever contact aliens.

Dreadnaught said... Reply To This Comment

People freak out in fear of what may happen, and though nothing does happen, we still riot and go nuts in anticipation of what wont happen. Meaning we bring it on ourselves.

Brian Miller said... Reply To This Comment

chaos...we are always inventing new ways to kill ourselves...one day we will succeed...and we will see it coming...and we wont believe we finally did it...ha

Glad you're feeling better. I actually watched Armageddon last week!

Bill Pliskin said... Reply To This Comment

You got a crush on Will Smith this week? I don't think you can blame that on the drugs...

The atom smasher will really recreate the Big Bang to disastrous results.

JacobMayhem said... Reply To This Comment

World ending? Aliens!

BragonDorn said... Reply To This Comment

@Bill Pliskin I watched a lot of movies and there is an awful lot of Will Smith on Starz and HBO...

I've got money down in Vegas on nuclear war doing in the majority of the population.

BragonDorn said... Reply To This Comment

@DanRobitzski The question isn't if there is life on other planets but which side of the telescope does the more intelligent life form lives on. I don't think we will ever contact aliens but they may just contact us.

BragonDorn said... Reply To This Comment

@Pat Hatt I can't say that I enjoyed these movies all too much myself but they were the best uses for examples that I have seen on tv this week.

Teddi said... Reply To This Comment

i don't want to think about it, my brain starts to ache. when i was in junior high, i was afraid we'd be destroyed in a nuclear war. rest up, mr.

Kristjan said... Reply To This Comment

Armageddon is such a classic. Haven`t seen the other two, though.

Glad you're back and on the mend. I must say it's been awfully quiet without you! I'm sad you will not be posting as much, but hey, when opportunity comes a-knocking...! I do hope your picking up the slack of the fired accountant means an increase in pay!

I'm starting to get a little bored with all the apocalyptic claptrap doing the rounds (not your post, of course!). I can't wait for the morning of the 22nd of December 2012. I'm going to laugh my oversized, untanned bum off! I enjoy zombie movies, they best describe the utter ridiculousness of all this end-of-the-world nonsense!

Alas, my coffee has perc'd. Armageddon outta here! Great review! Later, big guy! :)

Armageddon, my favourite movie ever!

DEZMOND said... Reply To This Comment

I think we shall rather kill each other in some horrid war then get destroyed by some natural force. We are our own zombies, quakes and ice age all in one. It's a sad sad thought, but it is true.

PS where can I get me a pearguin? I need me one of those desperately :)

The world will end with aliens. I am 99.7% sure.

wolvz said... Reply To This Comment

Nowadays we have the technology needed to avoid most of the causes, but the natural ones are always unpredictable and very dangerous... like earthquakes and volcanos.

Lord Phrozen said... Reply To This Comment

You should've watched Men in Black instead of Armageddon, so all movies will have Will Smith on it.

CWMartin said... Reply To This Comment

I guess I gotta be the one to say, I loved I Robot. Different strokes, I suppose.

Faust said... Reply To This Comment

I, Legend was a great film. Still haven't read the book though, many people have recommended it to me.

sundersartwork said... Reply To This Comment

My favourite end of the world movie is a little known Australian film called 'the quiet earth'
I always like Charles Schultz quote on this topic:
'I don't worry about the end of the world, it's already tommorow in Australia'.

Sujana said... Reply To This Comment

wow you get to have an intern! Too cool

Alex J. Cavanaugh said... Reply To This Comment

I'm practicing my cardio in case the ending is like Zombieland.

Shockgrubz said... Reply To This Comment

The world will end after we all synchronize our clocks and jump in the air at 12:21pm on December 21, 2012. Although I think the Mayan calendar theories are wrong, my idea is that at that exact time Justin Bieber and the whole cast of Twilight will perish together in a horrible bouncy castle accident that will cause everyone to either jump for joy, or bound in agony, causing the earth to skew it's orbit and be sucked into the sun.

animestan said... Reply To This Comment

Probably by an epidemic or some sort of biological warfare.

zabuzar said... Reply To This Comment

i hope its nothing painfull. something fast and unpredictable, like a mass explosion inside the earth

good to hear you're feeling better. BTW, I am Legend has an alternate ending which is far, far better than the theatrical release

I loved I Am Legend. As for how the world will end... I think it'll be kind of like the movie Idiocracy for a long time, then we'll run out of resources or scorch the earth or something sad like that.

Great blog!

I am Legend was ruined for me near the ending

Welcome back. iRobot is still one of my favorite Sci Fi movies to date.

Nathan said... Reply To This Comment

I've heard of all of these, but I feel bad for not having seen any of them...

Mark said... Reply To This Comment

Actually I think I, Robot is possible, but not for a long time yet. People seem set on it either being robots or a space disaster such as a huge meteor, that takes us out.

End of the world?? well it's always possible!
but Dinosaurs didn't remembered it ... so we'll do!

I DO love I Am Legend <3

anthony stemke said... Reply To This Comment

I don't care for this genre of movies.
I think nuclear war could be more likely than a meteor or an asteroid.
You take care.

Alex Rowe said... Reply To This Comment

I'll wager it'll be from a paradigm shift in the way people think, leading to global revolutions and the emergence of a Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic future.

Medeia Sharif said... Reply To This Comment

I didn't see Armageddon, but I saw the first two.

End of the world movies freak me out, but make a great two hours of entertainment.

I haven't seen any of these films, they are not quite my kinda thing although I do like Will Smith. I may check out I am Legend.

JOutlaw said... Reply To This Comment

Isn't there something ridiculous like a couple of hundred meteors hit our planet every year but just burn up in the atmosphere?

I do really like I am Legend, but the book is better. Believe it or not, but they are actually more vampires than zombies.

A Beer for the Shower said... Reply To This Comment

I Am Legend was a terrible movie, which was really disappointing, because it's probably one of my favorite books. Richard Matheson is one of my favorite writers. Check out the book if you've never read it. It's a quick read, but definitely worth it.

David P. King said... Reply To This Comment

Welcome back, and thanks for following my blog!

We could always have crust displacement. A gamma blast wave would certainly get the job done. No one's made a movie of that because there is no way to stop it and it would be over too quickly.

I gave you a shout-out on my blog today! :)

cleemckenzie said... Reply To This Comment

Thank goodness for Bruce. As long as we have him I feel safe from the cosmic randomness.

I've left a small gift for you because of your help with my film list. Hope you'll stop by the Write Game and pick it up.

Three popcorn movies, I didn't like I am legend, they spoilt it with all the crap CGI. The original Charlton Heston film is better, The Omega Man, its a bit dated, but a much more enjoyable fim, give it a go, if you haven't already!

BragonDorn said... Reply To This Comment

@Ray Rousell ill give it a go
