I just got the call this morning from my mom...

I can still remember catching frogs and going swimming at our campground when I was young. But the memory I remember most is when my brother found the tiny kitten under the dumpster. If he wouldn't of found that cat it would of died by the end of that night. I remember my brother bringing the cat back to our campsite and we gave it milk and made him a little cardboard house and put hay in it for him. He was the cutest little kitten I have ever seen but he didn’t stay that way for long. We ended up naming the cute little kitten after the park and we brought him home for the winter because he wouldn’t make it out there alone. The Kitten grew up fast and wasn’t as cute as he once was. He was never very good at using a litter box so we had to make him an outdoor cat. I remember he ran away a lot when he was younger but as his years passed he stopped chasing mice into the cornfield and started sticking around the house and waiting for his meals. One day when our kitten was returning from a 4 to 5 day expedition in the woods he brought back a cat with very similar colors to his own and we named him Sunny.
Our kitty was a great cat but I wasn’t really sad when I heard that he passed away last night in the prime of the winter. I guess he wanted to go on one last adventure but he didn’t quite make it home. I think that our kitty lived a full life and enjoyed his time spent chasing rats and wondering aimlessly through the cornfield behind our house. I learned a lot over the years from our cat. The first thing I learned was that good things never last. As kitten grew older he didn’t keep his same kitten attitude and stopped being as playful. When kitten ran away I learned that if you love something you have to let it go. When kitten died last night I learned that we all only have so long on this world and we have to make the most of it.

This is not my kitten but he looks almost identical. Sorry if I bummed you guys out :/

Sorry to hear about your cat.

Not bummed, I like your perspective. I'm sympathetic to all of those losses during your years with him, but I'm guessing you don't need much sympathy - it sounds like he was worth it.

Rest in peace, little Kitty, after your long full life.

I wish cats would stay this size forever, ahahah

that sucks....sorry about your poor cat. At least your bro saved it and allowed you guys to have those awesome times/memories with it.

that's not a bummer. that's the bittersweetness of life. true dat.

Good insight man

Just knowing that your cat lived a happy life because of you, should make you proud and happy. We saved a very similar kitten from being put down at the vets, do you know what breed your cat was cause we have no idea?

Sorry about the cat, but I bet he was glad you found him all those years ago.

Pat) Good way to think about it :)

Hot) Thanks

Leon) He will be missed..

Suz) He was a good kitty. Thanks.

Vulcan) Not many people will admit it but they don't like there cats as much as they get older.

MR) It really does suck but I wont lose any sleep. He lived his life.

Teddi) He had an entire forest and cornfield to adventure through.

Buster) Thank you!

Chiro)I am proud but even the vet couldn't tell us a single breed. Out kitten was like a 4 or 5 way mix :)

Alex) I am very glad we found him :)

I got a private msg from someone that says my cat wouldn't of cried if I died which is probably true... Kinda funnyish... Thanks guys :)

Sorry to hear about your cat. You seem to have the best attitude possible though given the circumstance. Surprisingly like people, different animals have very different personalities. So, should you choose another pet someday, you may not find it so aloof and more suited to your personality. Our cat was born feral too and sounded similar to yours. We appreciated its independence but miss her now that she is gone. W.C.C.

Sorry about the cat, at-least he had a great life with you.

It sounds like he had a great life.

My cat is a rescue too (he's an indoor kitty though) and I'd be lost without him.

So sorry for your loss, but glad you have so many good memories of him.

Nice attitude about the whole deal, it's the right way to look at it. Although I admit I might be sad for a while if one of my favorite cats died.

Animals really are the best teachers. I had to let my dog go 3 years ago, but I got one last night with him to just sit and look at the sky. It was beautiful, we just sat until the moon rose and it got way too cold.

It's always the worst when you lose a pet. I know this feeling exactly because we've had many cats over the years. Sorry for your loss.

What a coincidence! We found our cat in our grandmother backyard. It looked like it was being physically abused and was extremely scared. Luckily we hopefully saved it and it has been our lovely Ashe (her name) for the past 5 years. :)

Just a wee bit sad at reading this. Reminds me of the loss of my cat Piggy last year. He had 15 grand years with me, but twas sad indeed to lose him. But this memory, though bittersweet that you have captured, is a good one.

Sorry for your loss, Sir. The memories of our passed-away cats are a very precious item: their sovereign rule over our lives, their many daring adventures; their territorial battles with Toms and the odd curious dog, etc. Your loss brought up from the past precious memories of our Princess. Thanks for the post.

I got out to check on it but it was no good as it was already too late :( I can't believe who ever hit it didn't stop to try and help, it was a living creature! Whats wrong with some people :(

Such a sad story really. All creatures grow up, yet if you truly love it, it doesn`t matter how old it is. Love has no age. That kitten looks lovely)

I'm sorry about your Kitten, but it sounds like he had a lot of good adventures. I had to comment, because I had a cat, as a child, with the same coloring. Her name was BeeGee (she was named in the 70's...). She was also better at being an outdoor cat.

Oh no, I'm so sorry about your kitty :( I had a cat for 17 years and she died in 2005 and I'm still not over it :( Your kitty sounds like he had a great life and many adventures.
